Chattanooga has a strong, newly emerging film production community. Film festivals featuring local and regional filmmakers are held throughout the year. And because of Chattanooga's scenery and special features, such as the Tennessee Valley Railroad, films for national distribution are also produced here. The Bijou, a nationally recognized theater, also sponsors a film series with the Arts and Education Council to show films that are not usually shown in medium-sized cities.
